To estimate HDD storage and network traffic please use free desing tool. Specified HDD storage space is required for continious recording during 24 hours, with medium image complexity, average camera (like AXIS 211) and medium MJPEG compression (factor 20).

In case if you use a motion detection to initiate video recording you can take approximately 10-15% of HDD space value.
